Passenger traffic at Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) surged over the Independence Day holiday, with nearly 329,000 passengers passing through between July 1 and July 7. This marks a 9.5% increase compared to the same period in 2023. Additionally, RDU set a new monthly record in June, serving over 1.4 million travelers, surpassing the previous high set in May by more than three percent.

To expedite the security screening process, travelers can now enroll in or renew their TSA PreCheck through CLEAR at RDU. TSA PreCheck members benefit from dedicated lanes, allowing them to keep their shoes, belts, and light jackets on and their electronics and compliant liquids in their carry-on bags. CLEAR provides in-person TSA PreCheck enrollments daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.

With RDU experiencing record numbers of passengers, travelers are advised to allow ample time for parking, security, and reaching their gates. RDU recommends arriving at the airport two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international flights to ensure a smooth travel experience.
