Algeria‘s tourism industry is experiencing a significant surge with the introduction of a new visa-free travel policy for 55 countries, including Malaysia, Morocco, and the Maldives. In 2021, Algeria’s tourism industry significantly contributed to the economy, adding around 7.2 billion U.S. dollars to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This marked a 33 percent increase compared to the previous year. Domestic tourism plays a crucial role, with roughly 3.7 million local tourists staying in hotels annually before 2020. Additionally, Algeria hosted 3.3 million foreign tourists, including 1.2 million Algerians from the diaspora visiting families.

This policy simplifies travel procedures and makes Algeria an increasingly attractive destination. The strategic move leverages Algeria’s rich cultural heritage, diverse landscapes, and improved infrastructure, enhancing tourism revenue and global connectivity. With vibrant cities, Mediterranean coastlines, and historical sites, Algeria is poised to become a top travel destination, drawing in more international travelers and strengthening its tourism sector.”
