‘Hadestown’ Star Maia Reficco Takes Us Backstage for Her Broadway Debut

This summer season, Maia Reficco is headed down to “Hadestown.” The actress recently made her Broadway debut in the musical production, taking over the female lead role of Eurydice, which was originated at the Walter Kerr Theatre by Eva Noblezada in 2019.

“It’s an absolute dream come true to be a part of ‘Hadestown.’ The people, the story, the heart behind it have no comparison,” says Reficco, who stepped into the role on July 2.

The actress recently starred in Max’s “Pretty Little Liars: Summer School,” and later this summer will appear in motorcycle action film “One Fast Move” with KJ Apa and Eric Dane, which premieres on Aug. 9. In the meantime, fans can find Reficco onstage in the popular Broadway production about the ill-fated Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice.

Reficco’s costume in the show pays homage to her Argentinian heritage through a special accessory.

“One of my favorite moments of the whole creative process leading up to opening was getting to talk to Pam [Bullock] from our wardrobe department, and suggest wearing something as meaningful as the Argentine escarapela as a part of Eurydice’s coat,” Reficco says. “They were all incredibly receptive and made this beautiful clip to add onto the coat.”

Here, Reficco takes WWD behind-the-scenes for her Broadway debut, including her preshow rituals: a cup of tea, Lax Vox and vocal steamer.

“I’ve not taken this hat off in the last two weeks, naturally🤝.”
