Ethiopian Airlines has demonstrated exceptional leadership and adaptability by reconfiguring approximately 25 passenger aircraft into dedicated cargo freighters during the COVID-19 pandemic. This strategic move enabled the airline to conduct over 470 charter repatriation flights, reuniting more than 63,000 citizens with their families and loved ones.

In collaboration with governmental entities, non-profit organizations, and international agencies, Ethiopian Airlines played a vital role in transporting millions of tons of personal protective equipment, medical apparatus, vaccines, and other essential supplies across Africa and beyond.

With a 78-year legacy, Ethiopian Airlines has showcased remarkable resilience and agility, cementing its reputation as one of the continent’s leading carriers known for operational excellence and efficiency. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, the airline was one of the few that managed to continue operations, serving the global community by transporting medical supplies, humanitarian aid, and essential personnel worldwide.

To weather the crisis, Ethiopian Airlines implemented several strategic measures, including service diversification, stringent precautionary protocols, and responsive management. These initiatives ensured the airline’s ability to navigate through the pandemic while maintaining its commitment to excellence and community service.
