Sierra Space Corporation, Japan Airlines Co., Ltd., Kanematsu Corporation, and Oita Prefecture are excited to welcome MUFG Bank, Ltd. and Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance Co., Ltd. to their collaborative effort to develop the use of the Dream Chaser® space plane.
This partnership explores numerous opportunities presented by establishing a horizontal spaceport, such as facilitating space plane landings at Oita Airport, navigating legal and regulatory frameworks, and creating an economic zone surrounding the spaceport. The primary objective is to establish Oita Airport as the Asian hub for the Dream Chaser space plane operated by Sierra Space.
The inclusion of MUFG Bank, Ltd. and Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance Co., Ltd. is expected to boost the initiative to transform Oita Airport into a horizontal spaceport. This alliance aims to enhance the space industry in Japan and generate new industrial and business prospects through space utilization.
