ITA Airways welcomes the European Commission’s approval, announced today, of the sale of a 41% stake by the Ministry of Economy and Finance to Deutsche Lufthansa A.G. This transaction is contingent upon certain conditions outlined by the European Commission, with a maximum period of four months from the decision date to fulfill these conditions.
A joint press conference was held today at the Ministry of Economy and Finance by Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti, Deutsche Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr, and ITA Airways Chairman Antonino Turicchi. The event, attended by major national and international media, detailed the conditions of the decision and the next steps of the transaction, marking a significant milestone in ITA Airways’ young history.

Turicchi, Chairman of ITA Airways. ” Once the conditions set by the Commission are met, the Company willbe able to strengthen itself thanks to Lufthansa’s capital investment and achieve synergies by becoming partof one of the world’s largest aviation groups, thereby ensuring greater connectivity for the country”.
