Alstom, a global frontrunner in innovative and eco-friendly solutions, together with DSB, the Danish national railway authority, is thrilled to share that the IC5 Coradia Stream train has been honored with the esteemed 2024 “Red Dot Award” for exceptional design.
The Red Dot Design Award ranks among the most prominent global design competitions, recognizing superior achievements across international design, product aesthetics, communication styles, and an array of creative concepts. In a significant development in April 2021, Alstom and DSB entered into a landmark framework agreement valued at €2.6 billion, covering the delivery of 100 Coradia Stream trains and 15 years of comprehensive maintenance services.
A partnership defined by success
The design of the IC5 train represents a productive and forward-thinking collaboration between Alstom and DSB. This partnership focused on delivering a design that aligns with Danish values and caters to local needs, highlighting authenticity and ethical principles.

The interior of the IC5 Coradia Stream trains showcases Alstom’s modern design ethos, utilizing natural elements such as authentic wood and bare metal. This collaboration has yielded a design that is both timeless and inviting, enhancing passenger comfort. Additionally, the thoughtfully arranged interior lighting helps guide passengers while offering an enhanced ambiance through adjustable brightness and coordinated color schemes.
