Avelo Airlines led U.S. carriers in May with top on-time performance (88%) and the lowest cancellation rate (0.1%), ensuring smooth, reliable travel for customers.
As the bustling summer travel season begins, Avelo Airlines continues to set the standard for operational reliability in the U.S. airline industry.
In May, Avelo achieved the top spot for on-time performance and recorded the lowest flight cancellation rate, marking the second consecutive month of leading in these key metrics. For the first five months of 2024, Avelo ranked first in on-time performance and held the second-lowest flight cancellation rate among all U.S. airlines.

In May, Avelo Airlines ranked #1 for on-time performance and had the lowest flight cancellation rate among all U.S. carriers. The airline achieved an impressive 88% of its flights arriving within 15 minutes of their scheduled time, surpassing the Department of Transportation’s A14 standard and the industry average of 72.5%. The second-best carrier reported an 80% on-time performance for the same month.
Avelo’s flight cancellation rate stood at just 0.1% in May, significantly better than the industry average of 1.4%. Of the 1,504 flights scheduled last month, only two were canceled. For the year 2024 so far, Avelo leads the industry with an 84% A14 rate and holds the second-lowest cancellation rate at 0.3%.

Since its inaugural flight on April 28, 2021, Avelo has served over 4.7 million customers on more than 37,000 flights. Currently, Avelo operates in 53 destinations across 24 states and Puerto Rico. In 2024 alone, the airline has introduced 16 new routes and 11 new destinations, including Houston, TX; Lakeland, FL; St. Louis, MO; Traverse City, MI; and Washington, D.C., which will commence over the next six weeks.

Avelo offers flexible travel options with no change or cancellation fees. Families benefit from the policy of automatically seating children 13 and under with an accompanying adult at no extra charge.
Customers can purchase advanced seat assignments, with one-third of the seats offering extra legroom (32 inches to over 36 inches). Additional unbundled travel options include priority boarding, checked bags, carry-on overhead bags, and pet travel in the cabin, allowing customers to pay only for the services they value.
