VINCI Airports, through its subsidiary AERODOM, is set to embark on significant enhancements at Las Américas Airport, the gateway to the Dominican Republic’s capital, Santo Domingo. This ambitious expansion and modernization project aims to transform the airport’s infrastructure and overall passenger experience.

With an investment exceeding thirty million dollars, VINCI Airports plans to execute a comprehensive series of projects. These include the remodeling of the arrival area, renovations to the roofs and facades, upgrades to lighting and information systems, and improvements to air conditioning. Additionally, the vehicle parking lot will be expanded and renovated to enhance convenience for passengers.

In a bid to achieve sustainable environmental progress, VINCI Airports will construct a 3,600-square-meter roof designed for rainwater recovery at the terminal. Furthermore, the final phase of a 1.5 MWP solar power plant installation on the terminal roof is nearing completion.

The parking lot upgrades will add 400 new spaces and feature improved gardening, road surfaces, and signage, ensuring better traffic flow and vehicle distribution.

Both the check-in lobbies in the Departures area and the entire Arrivals area will undergo comprehensive renovations, including new floors, ceilings, and modern decor.

To modernize the terminal’s appearance, ventilated façade-type coatings will be installed across the entire aerial façade. Additionally, a new Baggage Handling System (BHS) is under construction. This system will incorporate advanced security inspection and baggage classification machines with triple redundancy for enhanced efficiency and safety.

Mónika Infante, CEO of AERODOM, declared: “AERODOM, as part of the VINCI Airports network, is proud to deliver these improvements as part of our partnership with the Dominican Republic. The works at the current terminal will be complemented with the construction of a state of the art new terminal that will continue to support the country’s tourism industry. We are committed to keep bringing positive momentum and sustainable transition in the country, as we have been doing since we started our operations in 2016”.
