Azeraeronavigation (AZANS), the air navigation service provider of Azerbaijan, has reinforced its dedication to safe and efficient airspace operations by adopting two Aireon data products: the Aireon Locate search and rescue tool and the Aireon Safety Dashboard.
Since selecting Aireon in 2022 for its leading automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B) data for air traffic surveillance, AZANS has been using Aireon data to enhance ground surveillance networks throughout the entire Baku Flight Information Region (FIR) in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan’s airspace covers 165,400 sq. km, with 86,600 sq. km over land and 78,800 sq. km above the Caspian Sea. The route network within this airspace spans approximately 11,000 km.
The new contracts between Aireon and AZANS were signed at the CANSO Global ATM Summit in Baku, Azerbaijan, this week.
“At Aireon, we are designing and deploying data products to meet our customers’ critical safety and operational needs. These two products are perfect examples of that work,” said Chris Devlin, Aireon director of product development. “Safety Dashboard puts our gold-standard ADS-B data into a safety benchmarking context, allowing users to identify trends and markers. Locate, on the other hand, gives search and rescue organizations real-time information in the most time critical of situations.”

Aireon Locate is a cloud-based tool that allows search and rescue organizations to swiftly and accurately determine the location of an ADS-B-equipped aircraft. By utilizing Aireon’s global dataset, Aireon Locate provides essential information to operators worldwide, particularly in areas lacking ground-based infrastructure, such as oceans, mountains, remote regions, and polar areas.
The Aireon Safety Dashboard is an advanced tool designed for Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) to identify, monitor, and analyze key risk indicators in their airspace. This web-based dashboard offers a visual representation of critical risk indicators, making it easy to detect trends, patterns, and anomalies. Customers benefit from a benchmarking feature that allows them to compare their event data with others, complementing existing safety processes and enabling proactive risk identification and enhanced monitoring of mitigation effectiveness.
