TAP Air Portugal will begin flights to Florianópolis, the capital of Santa Catarina in southern Brazil, starting September 3, 2024. The airline will offer three weekly flights between Lisbon and Florianópolis – Hercílio Luz International Airport.

Florianópolis will be TAP’s 12th destination in Brazil, supporting its strategy of diversifying in its most important market. This move reinforces the geographical convenience of Portugal as a gateway to over 50 European destinations for Brazilian travelers.

TAP will operate the route using an Airbus A330-200 aircraft, with a capacity of 269 passengers: 244 in Economy class and 25 in Business class. The flight duration is approximately 11 hours.

Flights from Lisbon to Florianópolis will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, departing Lisbon between 10:10 and 10:50, and arriving in Florianópolis between 17:15 and 17:55. The return flights will depart Florianópolis between 19:35 and 20:40, arriving in Lisbon between 9:50 and 10:55 the following day.

Tickets for the new route are now available on flytap.com and through travel agents, with round-trip prices starting at €559, all taxes included.

For Luís Rodrigues, TAP’s CEO, “the launch of the flight to the state of Santa Catarina has been under consideration for some time. For TAP, it is very important that we have been able to bring forward the launch of this new route to a time when, due to the state of calamity in Rio Grande do Sul and the closure of Porto Alegre airport, the south of Brazil needs it so much”.

“An increase in supply to our biggest market, which is Brazil, is something normal and something we want. With this new route, TAP reinforces its commitment to continue investing to be the European airline of choice for Brazilian customers,” concludes Luis Rodrigues.

The new route to Florianópolis allows TAP to maintain its record number of flights during the European summer, despite the suspension of flights to Porto Alegre. During this period, TAP offers 95 weekly flights, averaging over 13 flights a day from 11 Brazilian state capitals.

For 10 consecutive years, TAP has been voted Europe’s Leading Airline to South America by the World Travel Awards, recognizing its excellent service. It has also received the MICE Award for Best European Airline.

TAP flies directly from São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belém, Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Fortaleza, Natal, Maceió, Porto Alegre, Recife, Salvador, and Florianópolis to Lisbon, as well as connecting Porto to São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. In total, TAP connects 12 Brazilian cities (14 routes from Lisbon and Porto) directly to Portugal.
