The Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association partners with Colombia’s Escuela de Aviación del Pacífico to enhance aviation education across the region.

The Association of Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport (ALTA) is excited to welcome the Pacific Aviation School into its Educational Hub. This esteemed flight training academy, which has been operational for over 53 years and is based in Cali with a branch in Pereira, Colombia, has now become a part of a group of educational entities dedicated to enhancing aviation education and professional training across the region.

Pacific Aviation School is renowned for its exceptional training programs for flight crews and maintenance staff for various airlines. The academy boasts a fleet of 11 training aircraft, including eight Piper PA-28-161s and three Cessna C152/C150s, and is equipped with three advanced flight simulators: an FTD-A320 Flight Training Device, a Red Bird MCX Motion 3D, and an Elite static simulator, all housed at its main campus.

The school offers a range of programs such as Commercial or Private Pilot, Cabin Crew Member, Aircraft Maintenance Technician, and Aircraft Dispatcher. It also provides specialized courses and unique educational opportunities like the A-320 Pilot Familiarization Course, Ultralight Pilot, UAS Pilot, and creative initiatives like “Pilots for a Day” and “Vacation Seminars” aimed at young enthusiasts.

Pacific Aviation School has received several accolades for its educational excellence, including “The best in education – 2013” from the Colombian Ministry of Education, the “Cross of Civil Aeronautical Merit” awarded by the Ministry of Transport, and the “Order of Merit Vallecaucano to business merit” from the Government of Valle del Cauca Department.

Furthermore, the institution holds certifications from Icontec in ISO 9001:2018, IQ NET, NTC 5555, and NTC 5581 standards.

“We are very pleased with the signing of this agreement as it will allow us to bring first class educational programs to the entire aeronautical community in the region and young people interested in starting a career in aviation. In addition, as part of this agreement, the Escuela de Aviación del Pacífico also becomes an official partner of the “Girls With Goals” scholarship program, which aims to promote the development of women in the aeronautical maintenance sector by offering financial support in the last stage of academic studies so that more women will be able to pursue a career in aviation,” said Jose Ricardo Botelho, ALTA’s Executive Director & CEO.

“The inclusion of new partners such as Escuela de Aviación del Pacífico strengthens ALTA’s commitment to educational excellence and the expansion of professionals in the industry. Welcome.”

“For our Great Air Family Escuela de Aviación del Pacífico is proud and highly committed to join ALTA’s Educational Hub, a synergy that enables the strengthening and development of the Latin American aviation industry sector in high growth and projection”, comments Captain Antonio Briceño, President of EAP.
