Capitalizing on the growing demand for enhanced air connectivity between Trichy and Middle Eastern countries, a new flight service was introduced, connecting Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with Trichy International Airport. The service, operated by IndiGo, commenced on Sunday, marking a significant milestone in the region’s international aviation network.

First Flight Arrival and Service Schedule

IndiGo’s inaugural flight to Trichy International Airport was met with a traditional water cannon salute, symbolizing the importance of this new route. The flight arrived at 6:40 am, carrying 173 passengers. The return journey saw the aircraft depart with 186 passengers, reaching its full capacity. The service is scheduled to operate on four days a week—Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, according to sources from the Airports Authority of India (AAI).

The flight schedule has been meticulously planned to meet the convenience of passengers. Flight 6E1493 departs from Trichy Airport at 7:30 am, arriving in Abu Dhabi by 10:00 am. The return flight, 6E1494, leaves Abu Dhabi at 12:55 am and lands back in Trichy by 6:30 am. This new addition complements the existing services provided by Air India Express, which currently operates three flights per week on the same route.

A significant number of non-resident Indians (NRIs) from the central districts of Tamil Nadu are employed in the UAE, necessitating more frequent and convenient flight options.
