Saudia, the national airline of Saudi Arabia, has recently expanded its flight services to include Medan, marking it as the airline’s second route to Indonesia after Jakarta. Scheduled to commence on August 31, Saudia will operate four weekly flights from Medan to Jeddah and Medina respectively. This initiative is part of Saudia’s strategic plan to enhance global connectivity with the Kingdom and cater to a broad range of travelers.

Preparatory discussions have been conducted with representatives from Kualanamu International Airport in Medan to ensure operational efficiency and service readiness. These efforts are geared towards optimizing airport traffic and streamlining passenger processes.

The introduction of the Medan route with stops in both Medina and Jeddah is designed to meet growing travel demands. It follows Saudia’s recent partnership with Tibah Airports, aimed at expanding operations and improving services for Umrah and Hajj pilgrims, as well as for tourists visiting significant Islamic sites.

In alignment with Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to attract 30 million Umrah pilgrims by the end of the decade, Saudia is actively working to increase its presence in the Hajj and Umrah travel market, particularly noting Indonesia’s significant Muslim population.

Moreover, Saudia is in the midst of its most extensive fleet enhancement and expansion effort, which currently includes 144 aircraft with an additional 103 slated for future delivery. This growth is supported by various initiatives to elevate the passenger experience, incorporating the latest in aviation technology.
