Milan Bergamo Airport handled 1.7 million domestic passengers in the first half of the year, driven by new routes like the recently launched Salerno service.

Milan Bergamo Airport is excited to announce the launch of Ryanair’s first-ever flight to Salerno, opening up a new gateway to the stunning Amalfi Coast. This route, which operates three times weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, marks a significant expansion in Milan Bergamo Airport’s domestic offerings, enhancing travel convenience and connectivity across Italy.

Passengers at Bergamo Airport are among the first in Italy to have the chance to fly directly to Salerno Costa d’Amalfi Airport, which recently reopened after nine years. This airport, situated near the beautiful city of Salerno, provides easy access to popular destinations like Positano, Amalfi, and Ravello.

This new route adds to Milan Bergamo Airport’s expanding range of domestic flights. Earlier this year, in March, Aeroitalia began offering five weekly flights between Bergamo and Perugia, followed by Lumiwings’ twice-weekly flights to Foggia in April. Additionally, Aeroitalia launched a new daily service between Bergamo and Palermo in July, complementing Ryanair’s existing route. Ryanair also introduced a new daily service from Bergamo to Olbia at the start of the summer season, joining easyJet and Volotea on this route.

Giacomo Cattaneo, Director of Commercial Aviation, SACBO, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Ryanair’s new service to Salerno, which is a significant addition to our growing portfolio of domestic routes. This expansion demonstrates our ongoing efforts to improve connectivity for our passengers. The introduction of new flights to cities like Foggia, Perugia, Palermo, and Olbia, alongside our established offerings, highlights our dedication to facilitating seamless travel across Italy. We look forward to continuing
our collaboration with airline partners to deliver more options and convenience for our customers.”

In the first half of the year, Milan Bergamo Airport welcomed 1,766,886 passengers on domestic flights. With the ongoing introduction of new routes, the airport continues to strengthen its role as a key hub for domestic travel, enhancing passenger experiences and contributing to the growth of tourism and business throughout the region.
