Sydney Airport (SYD) in Australia saw a total of 9.7 million passengers in the second quarter, reflecting a 6.4% increase compared to the same period in 2023 and a 91.9% recovery from the second quarter of 2019. The airport experienced notable growth in international travel, handling 3.8 million passengers, which is a 12.1% increase year-over-year and a 94.3% recovery from the 2019 levels. According to SYD CEO Scott Charlton, international passenger numbers were robust throughout Q2, driven by expanded seat capacity in markets such as Japan, Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam. This growth was supported by additional flights, including Thai Airways’ second daily service to Bangkok, Jetstar’s new thrice-weekly service to Osaka, and VietJet Air’s twice-weekly service to Hanoi.

Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport, often referred to as Mascot Airport, Kingsford Smith Airport, or simply Sydney Airport, is an international airport situated in Mascot, a suburb in the Inner South of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The airport is located approximately 8 kilometers south of Sydney’s central business district.
