Miami International Airport hosted a special tour for over 60 neurodivergent children from Easterseals South Florida, offering them a safe and immersive air travel experience.

Miami International Airport recently organized an MIA Airport Instruction and Readiness (MIAair) tour for over 60 children with special needs from Easterseals South Florida, a school dedicated to neurodivergent students ranging from Kindergarten to 12th grade. This tour provided the participants with an opportunity to simulate the entire air travel process, from entering the airport to sitting in an airplane seat, within a secure and controlled setting.

During the tour, the children practiced various stages of air travel, including entering the airport, obtaining boarding passes, navigating security, and boarding an American Airlines aircraft. This initiative also serves as an educational experience for both airline and airport personnel at MIA. The primary objective of the MIAair program is to ensure that individuals of all abilities can enjoy the excitement and adventure of flying.

In the previous year, MIA became the first airport in Florida and the second in the United States to receive accreditation from the Airports Council International (ACI) Accessibility Enhancement Accreditation (AEA) program. This honor recognizes MIA’s dedication to providing an accessible, safe, and inclusive travel experience for passengers with disabilities.
