SunExpress has introduced a new route connecting Cologne/Bonn Airport in Germany to the picturesque coastal town of Samsun on the Black Sea. The airline’s maiden flight departed from Cologne/Bonn Airport, marking the beginning of weekly operations every Wednesday. This new service enhances connectivity between Germany and Turkey, offering travelers direct access to Samsun’s cultural richness and scenic beauty.

“The summer holidays in North Rhine-Westphalia are just around the corner. We are delighted that SunExpress is adding another destination to our flight schedule with the connection to Samsun, just in time for the next wave of travellers,” says Thilo Schmid, CEO of Flughafen Köln/Bonn GmbH.

Samsun, located on Turkey’s northern coast along the Black Sea, serves as the economic hub of the region. The city boasts numerous museums and attractions, including the expansive Atakum Beach, known for its wide and long sandy shoreline. Amisos Hill provides panoramic views of the city and its surrounding natural beauty. With a history dating back to ancient times, Samsun is significant in Turkish history as the starting point of the Turkish War of Liberation in 1919.

Flights from Cologne/Bonn to Samsun depart at 7:40 a.m. on Wednesdays, with a flight duration of approximately four hours. The return flight to the Rhineland also operates on Wednesdays. SunExpress offers flights to several other Turkish destinations, including Ankara, Antalya, and Dalaman.
