NAV CANADA is excited to announce a partnership with Kongsberg Geospatial to implement Digital Aerodrome Air Traffic Services (DAATS) technology as part of its Digital Facilities initiative.
The DAATS program is central to NAV CANADA’s strategic vision for enhancing the resilience and sustainability of its airport services. Instead of relying on traditional out-the-window views, digital facilities will utilize advanced high-resolution optical sensors, external microphones, and other sensors to provide critical information and situational awareness to air traffic service personnel.

Through this collaboration, NAV CANADA will establish a digital facility at Kingston Airport to refine and validate the technology and operating procedures. Additionally, a test facility will be set up in Ottawa during the early stages of the program. These efforts will lay the groundwork for future implementations of digital facilities at other airports across the country.
Kongsberg Geospatial, a leader in developing Beyond Visual Line-of-Sight (BVLOS) navigation systems for Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) and Remote Tower operator visualization for air traffic services, builds precision software for mapping, geospatial visualization, and situational awareness. Their high-performance, real-time components are designed for mission-critical applications.
