Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport announced on Tuesday that it has massively upgraded its processing capabilities, now able to handle over 8,000 passengers per hour. This enhancement includes a reduction in the wait time at the curbside to less than a minute, thanks to the expansion of both DigiYatra and non-DigiYatra facilities across its terminals. In addition, the airport has introduced AI and ML-powered cameras at the curbside to boost its security measures, according to Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL).

The airport has also increased the number of terminal entry points from 24 to 68, making it the maximum number of e-gates at any curbbside/landside in India. This expansion includes 34 lanes dedicated to DigiYatra users, achieved without any structural changes by leveraging a digital gateway solution.

Terminal 1, which serves domestic flights exclusively, now features six DigiYatra e-gates and six non-DigiYatra e-gates, further augmenting the airport’s capacity and enhancing the passenger experience.

Additionally, 118 new e-gates are being installed in the Pre-embarkation Security Check (PESC) area of Terminal 2 to enhance the flow of passengers. These e-gates will allow DigiYatra passengers to quickly proceed through biometric verification, eliminating the need to show their ticket, boarding pass, or ID.

These upgrades at the airport are part of a broader initiative to ensure a faster, safer, and more seamless journey for travelers using the digital gateway platform at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.
