Air New Zealand announces the suspension of its Auckland – Nouméa service from June 10 to September 28, 2024, citing ongoing uncertainty in New Caledonia.

Jeremy O’Brien, Air New Zealand’s General Manager Short-Haul, acknowledges the challenges posed by the prolonged closure of the Nouméa airport and the prevailing uncertainty in the region.

He expresses regret for the inconvenience caused to customers with travel plans to and from Nouméa, emphasizing that the decision was made after careful consideration.

Affected customers who booked directly with Air New Zealand will have their flights automatically placed on hold as credit.

However, due to limited alternatives and the ongoing uncertainty, rebooking on alternative services to Nouméa will not be facilitated. Alternatively, customers have the option to request a full refund for their bookings.

For customers who made their bookings through a travel agent, Air New Zealand advises them to liaise directly with their respective agents to explore available options.

O’Brien extends gratitude to customers for their patience and understanding during this period of disruption, assuring them of the airline’s commitment to resuming operations to Nouméa after September 28.

The decision reflects Air New Zealand’s cautious approach in navigating the complexities of travel amid uncertain conditions.

As the situation in New Caledonia evolves, the airline remains committed to prioritizing the safety and convenience of its passengers while closely monitoring developments to facilitate a swift return to normal operations.
