Hervé Léger Resort 2025: Rethinking an Icon

19

“This woman has grown up with us,” explained Hervé Léger creative director Michelle Ochs, “but we’re also introducing it to a new generation.” It’s a delicate line to toe — taking a brand with such a singular heritage and evolving and making it modern. A year in, Ochs is striking the right chord on her mission to rethink the bandage fabric lexicon the brand made iconic. While this is her first resort offering for the label, with a transitional feeling, it’s really a continuation of the story she has been building since she took the reins by introducing new fabrics, plays on jersey, new textures and hardware and updated shapes. “I’m speaking to the modern woman, wardrobing her,” she said point blank of her direction.

Modernity came in knits with bandage details paired with patent leather pieces and updated foil pieces that mimicked crocodile on skirts, which easily could see heavy rotation far beyond resort. A mostly black and white palette with pops of color, like a fire engine red patent leather skirt, felt right for a modern lifestyle. The bandage dress was here, but with fringe trims and crystal embellishments, or a cutout dress with staple-like hardware dotted from head to toe. A new mesh overlay fabrication that was silky soft was another way to inject a feeling of now, or Ochs’ first bag shape — a rectangular black clutch.

The designer said she feels the momentum building with her customer, and resort was right in step with her push.
